Artist Statement Welcome!

With over 15 years experience in visual arts, I have developed strong color knowledge and drawing skills that outline and define my paintings. My favorite medium to work with are oil paints, professional-grade acrylic paints and oil pastels. As far as subject matter, I love painting everything! It's a blessing and a curse, because this interest has afforded me plenty of hours painting all kinds of things, but it hinders my ability to focus on a single subject. For the time being, I strive to create different series on the many subjects I enjoy painting until I find my "vision." My influences are quite varied in medium, technique and style which has all contributed to my "style" (or lack thereof, haha). My well-known influences are Vincent Van Gogh, MC Escher, Salvador Dali, Bev Doolittle and Jonathan Yeo.

Though I don't yet have a defined subject or style, my paintings do have a clear purpose. I want to first honor God with my artwork. The gift to visually convey ideas or experiences is a beautiful gift from our Loving Creator, and I want everything I do to be to His glory! The secondary purpose of my artwork: to inspire my viewers to feel something... nostalgia, introspection, compassion, inspiration... in whatever capacity, I strive to open people's hearts.

On a personal level, when I'm not sketching or painting, I LOVE spending time with my husband and children. My best friend and husband, Robert, is also my business partner. He helps keep my creativity in a business-ready fashion, and also handcrafts my canvases and display boards. With my messy, imaginative spirit and his mathemagical, analytical seriousness, he is DEFINITELY the method to my madness and is as involved in this beautiful journey of doing art for a living as I am. So if you come to any of our events, you will most likely meet him as well!
