Description Watercolor and iridescent pigments by Daniel Smith and Dr. Ph Martin Hydrus Watercolors. Original image: 12 x 22 on 300 lb. watercolor paper. Professional framed: Double matted: 29 1/4 x 16 1/2 with acrylicWhile visiting our grandchildren in Los Angeles we stayed in a B&B where the peacocks flew to this very tall tree on their property . I watched for them to fly out in the morning but didn't capture any images. While at a soccer game I saw this very large male flying just above the trees the length of the field and I really thought I had seen a dragon. I could hardly wait to paint him.
Diana Nadal, Portland Member Since March 2014 Artist Statement I am a native Oregonian, mother of 3, grandmother of 3 and wife of 50 years who had found creative outlets as an interior designer and business owner before focusing my creative energy to being a full-time artist 13 years ago.
My inspiration comes from family travels, wine, reflections and shadows on water and other surfaces, scenes with people doing ordinary but interesting things and portraits. I can't resist painting an interesting face! I prefer to paint realistically but lately my emphasis has been on more expressionistic and abstract subjects.
I taught my first workshop on Exploring Liquid Watercolors Using webbing, textures and other techniques--"Making It Your Own," and am interested in teaching artists how to start their own critique groups.
