Description Plumeria, the species name, for the fragrant flower more commonly known as frangipani. It evokes images of warm, tropical evenings, filled with its sweet & fragrant perfume. It also inspired a great many pacifc craftspeople, to use it as a motif, in many historical traditional practises, & now, even in more contemporary works, including tapa cloth printing. The motif can even be traced as far back to the ancient Lapita people, where the image can be seen on some of the broken pottery pieces found.
