Description I will occasionally go to relatively great lengths to get that perfect picture, the one I have in my mind that I desperately need to get to the computer screen and into your hands. This picture represents one such occasion. After climbing up half the stairs in the Castle Hauenstejn Tower, I somehow, in an acrobatic manner that left quite a few bruises, managed to get myself perched on a narrow ledge inside the tower. Holding my camera out away from me as far as my arm would allow, and pointing it in the general direction of this window, I squeezed off about a dozen pictures, hoping that one of them would turn out. One of those is not the picture you see before you.
After nearly giving up, inspiration struck. Inside the tower, there is space, about six feet, between the stairwell in the upper half of the inside wall. I precariously made my way down from my perch and back onto the stairs. After climbing a dozen feet, I knelt on the stairs, held onto the railing for dear life (mine) with one hand, and held onto my brand new camera for dear life (the camera's) with the other hand. This time, I only took around half a dozen photos before both arms started to get tired, risking the rapid descent to the bottom of the tower of my camera and, much worse, myself. Fortunately, things worked out this time. Not only did I not fall or drop my camera, I managed to get the picture that you see in front of you - a picture of the church on the castle's grounds as seen through the tower porthole.
