Artist Statement As a small boy, I was fantastic at art, everybody admired my work.
Then, as I got older, they and I realised that it wasn't really that good.
The only tuition I ever had, was years ago at night school.
My tutor was a great, laid back guy, named Alan Swainstone-Cooper, better known as the clarinettist in the 'Original Temperance Seven.'
The lessons only lasted about a year..., I think we were only really interested in our 'after school' drinking bouts.
Consequently, in my later years...I am now 62, I realised I really had to work harder at my art. My ego and pride couldn't stand the many negative comments.
Nowadays I am quite pleased with what I paint and the degree of competence I have attained. I have won a few awards and also a couple of prizes. Also I have just been entered in two exhibitions in Essex.
To date I have sold paintings all over the UK and abroad.
I hope you like my work and that you will feel the need to hang some in your home, or office etc. I have found that I mainly favour watercolours, but will use oils, or acrylics, should it take my fancy to do so.
My preferred subjects are; landscapes, wild animals and seascapes.
My paintings are usually signed Ken Newbury, but on occasions, I sign my name, K. J. Newbury or even, just Newbury.
