Description When I moved to New York in the early seventies, Eighth Avenue was a hubbub of nefarious activity and 42nd Street was downright scary. It was a wonderful hodge-podge of humanity, sheep and opportunists herding each other down the street. Successive mayors and commercial interests have tried over the years to tame the beast and make it family-friendly. This block between 43rd and 44th still has a bit of the old spark. I dont care how many Starbucks they brew up or Disney musicals they mount, gimme the sleaze!
