Artist Statement WELCOME and thank you for visiting. As an award-winning Northern California artist and published photographer, I reside in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Colors are influenced by brilliant sunshine and the energy of gold miners who left their legacy in the tailings dotting the landscape.

I enjoy photography and working with brush and ink painting on rice paper in the Sumi-e style. Sumi-e requires artists to distill the essence of an object or scene in the fewest possible strokes, and this stylistic constraint truly challenges my expressive personality. On my 10th birthday I received my first camera, and realized the world was both the same, yet different, through the lens. I continue to combine new art forms and media in order to create innovative expressions of my life.

My foray into the latest phase of art is Crystal Focus Imagery(tm) which began as a response to a severely injured eye that could only see refractions of the images around me. Forced to view the world in this new way, I found the rim of a wine glass caught the light and refracted images that resembled the way I was seeing the world. I found my camera and began snapping anything that provided this prismatic refraction.

Nature is my favorite subject, because it reminds us that life is constantly fluid, and all we as artists can attempt to do, is capture a moment that has already past.
