revival
winter descended a damp cloud sucking all the air out of my eyes then scaled them with film that leached all color from the world
bumping into endless walls my heartbeat slowed by permafrost i surrendered to the fog and climbed the stairs starved lungs burning every step to bury my blind self for the season
the room was grim and cold but light leaked in and stumbling toward it touched a window frigid with the kiss of frost and in my heart hope fluttered fragile wings
my deadened eyes revived everything beyond the pane the lake the trees the ice illuminated by a glacial moon flat paper in a clouded blueblack sky
and by some miracle the painted world bled color once again my veins defrosted as i drank the chroma of the saints and set about to work again ~ copyright 2016 RC deWinter
