Description Two space explorers happen upon a new species of aliens who don't necessarily recognize the humanoids as intelligent creatures. It takes some quick thinking to communicate with them in a manner that the will recognize.
Michael Dashow, Oakland, CA Member Since April 2010 Artist Statement I am a professional science fiction, fantasy, steampunk and childrens' 2D and 3D artist. For illustrations, I primarily work digitally, although also produce watercolors now and then too. My favorite things to work on are character-driven pieces, especially humorous ones, but I do pretty much everything.
My digital illustrations have graced the covers and interiors of many books and magazines. My work has been featured in 'Spectrum,' 'Expose,' 'ImagineFX' magazine (Britain), It's Art Magazine (France) and Fantasy Art Magazine (China). I also have won numerous awards with my work, including several CGSociety Challenges, Dominance War III, and contests at the Society of Childrens' Book Writers and Illustrators web site. I am also a Chesley Award winner for my my cover for Peter S. Beagle's 'The Rhinoceros Who Quoted Nietzsche,' which won the Chesley for Best Paperback Book Cover of the Year in 1997. (The Chesley is given out by the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists at the World Science Fiction Convention each year.)
