Artist Statement I was born in Gary, indiana, and moved to atlanta ga. when I was two. I attended Tri-Cities High, and began my training in their magnet visual arts program. Upon graduation, I relocated to Columbus, Ohio and enrolled in the Columbus College of Art and Design where I majored in illustration. When iI was "done" there, I moved back to Georgia (with my newborn daughter) and began working with the Fulton County Arts Council as an art instructor. As much as I loved to work with kids, an opportunity came for me to begin a tattoo apprenticeship. so I left the teaching gig, and devoted all my time towards learning the tattoo business. Fifteen years later i'm still tattooing strong, but still learning, and trying to surround myself with creative, and progressive people to push me further artistically. My influences come mostly from music, film, and life experiences. My pieces all have personal meanings which I rarely share with people, but rather have them tell ME what the painting means to them. Currently, I am working on a graphic novel, and I also design flash sheets ( tattoo designs). I also have a comic book series that I write and illustrate called ,"DayBlack".The winter months are when the tattoo business slows down and when I have the most time to devote towards creating, so I call
this body of work, The Slow Season Pieces.
