no nightbird disturbs the
mute beauty of
the soft southern spring
in the shadow of the pines
the green grass grows
without a murmur
and the evening primrose keeps its
wisdom to itself
the clamor of the world forgotten
i too stand silent
in the silver spilling from the sky
sometimes there is no need
for sound
