Artist Statement Thank you for taking the time to visit my work. My goal is to record parts of our history, mostly industrial but also some residential, for the future.

I find abandoned places very intriguing and am always curious as to who lived, worked and played in these places we have basically forgotten and left to decay. I am also amazed at how quickly nature can reclaim a piece of sidewalk or roadway once it is left unused.

I believe there is a great deal of visual interest in these places, sometimes for historical reasons, sometimes for architectural elements and yes for sentimentality.

I do not expect many people to feel the same way but I know there are some who appreciate the past and see the mystery and appeal of “things that once were.”

As a side note, I do enjoy photographing historical structures and itmes which have been preserved and maintained. It is always pleasing to find that other people feel that a lighthouse, barn, church, old hotel, railroad engine etc. is worth saving for the future…if only to show that we once built such things in the United States, and paid just a bit more attention to detail.
