Artist Statement As a life long resident of Upstate New York, I enjoy the benefit of all four seasons and am most appreciative of my close proximity to the Adirondack & Catskill Mountains, as well being only a few hours from the Atlantic seaside. I am fascinated by Downeast Maine and South Carolina's Low Country, but Massachusetts' Cape Ann holds a very special place in my heart.

I began my career in the early 60's lugging around the hefty Speed Graphic with 4"x5" single-sheet negatives ... times when a news or sports assignment allotted only 2 - 4 pieces of sheet film. In the 1966 came my first Nikon F ... then the Mamiya 645 (2 1/4" x 3 1/4" negatives) in the early 80's for wedding and commercial work.

My world, and those of so many professionals, went completely topsy-turvy while we all hesitantly transitioned over to digital photography. But, what a wonderful transition is was! Today I work exclusively with digital Nikon's (D600 and D700). I am often most thrilled when I can just wander off alone with my "Nik twins" to explore our wide and so often overlooked surroundings.

My lenses vary from 16mm wide to 500mm long, with 1.4x and 2.0 extenders for elusive creatures that require distance ... usually for their sake, but quite often to extend my life expectancy. I'm a true believer that there is a vast difference between taking a snapshot and creating a beautiful photograph, and the latter requires my Manfrotto tripod and wireless shutter releases. Polarizing and neutral density filters are also must. GPS has also been added to my cameras recently in hopes of tracking all of my 'comings & goings' for later reference.
