Description Based on stylized mid-century design forms that I've been playing around with for many years now, such as my dingbat font 'Satellite' (dingbatcave.com). This sputnik's round pink center was conjured up in the lab as a mistake while experimenting with better living through digital chemistry. It reminds me of something plastic I might have seen or had as a child in the swinging '60s or as a teen in the 70s. It's soft, almost rubbery, and somewhat translucent. Perhaps one of those fluorescent scented erasers...why don't they make them anymore? Feet have a strange pearlescent glaze.
Ann Stretton, Mount Horeb Member Since November 2010 Artist Statement I am both a mixed media painter and digital artist. I've been exhibiting since the early 1980s, and creating digital images since 1985. I received my BFA from Colorado State in 1984 and my MFA from The University of Wisconsin in 1993. I work with "mixed metallic media"--metal leaf, prismatic glitter and nacreous paint. My computer-created works also utilize "metal" as well as luscious color and light.
