Artist Statement I am a recent graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design and

am looking to make a career for myself illustrating for children. For

my illustrations, I draw inspiration from scenes in my daily life. I

take ordinary subjects and give them a whimsical and sometimes comical

spin in effort to charm my audience. There is a fine line between when

I was a child who liked to draw, and when I became an adult who enjoyed

drawing for children. Children’s literature has always appealed to me

as it is one of the first mediums a child uses to help them figure out

their world. My preferred medium for illustration is watercolor, though

I also enjoy painting in Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. When I’m

not creating images, I love interesting conversation, taking pictures,

riding my bike, and a new book. I believe that everything is better

when accompanied with a good cup of coffee. When life permits, I love

to travel and learn more about the world around me.
