Description This is a digital painting (done entirely on computer) by Rebecca Korpita based on an original photograph titled 1041 Ursulines of a historic brick building at the corner of Royal and Ursulines in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Royal Street is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating from the French Colonial era and is one of the best known streets in the French Quarter not far from Bourbon Street. According to legend, this was once home to a man rumored to be a vampire. As the story goes, this man/vampire attacked and bit a woman late one night. In an effort to escape the vampire the woman threw herself from one of the upstairs windows, landing on the street below.
Rebecca Korpita, Mississippi Gulf Coast Member Since September 2011 Artist Statement I am an artist living on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. I am inspired by the coastal area - the beaches, the laid back lifestyle, southern culture, New Orleans, Key West and the south in general. I also love to paint dogs and cats. I find their expressions amusing and their little everyday agendas pretty interesting as well. As you can probably tell, I love humor and color. I hope you enjoy my art. Thanks for stopping by!
