Artist Statement I've always had a love of art. When I was a child, my grandmother used to take me to art classes in Chicago, where I learned to paint with oils and draw with pastels. Animals and nature were my favorite subjects, not unlike today.

I studied art as a Student-at-Large at Northern Illinois University after completing a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Biology. Interestingly enough, the anatomy courses I took in undergraduate school helped immensely with drawing the human figure.

I put art on hold after university, choosing instead to follow a career in administrative work. I rediscovered my creative senses after traveling to Massachusetts in the autumn of 1999, where I took countless photographs and dusted off my old watercolor and drawing skills during a two-week vacation. A couple of years later, I began the otterine.com travel journal to share my experiences and photographs. Recently, I started offering some of my photographs and artwork for sale.
