Artist Statement Transcendental and Integral artist, Gwen Juvenal, concentrates her artistic expression in creating pieces of depth and healing for the soul. Born as a twin, into a large artistic family, she has been attracted to the arts since a young age. Gwen first developed her skills in voice, performance, and writing. Then, her work as a massage therapist honed her love for the body and human form. She continues to work with the body as a subject in her visual art. "I have found that what I surround myself with, visually, influences my consciousness and overall health and well-being. I'm drawn to create works that display the grace involved in healing and stepping into a powerful existence ( works which basically ask the viewer to step into experiencing the depths of their soul). Literally there is a never-ending revelatory flow of beauty and grace available to us all. As an artist, I embrace that energy; it emanates through my work."
Her fascination in portraying the layers and depth of the human soul (the connection from the body, or form, all the way through to the finer expressions of spirit and divinity) continue to drive her work. The themes and questions surrounding identifying the uniqueness of the individual while establishing that individuality as a part of the complete connected whole, are distilled throughout her work. Drawing from deep empirical understanding, and her years of practice in Buddhism, Christianity, and American Indian traditions, she brings a wealth of insight and imagery to each piece.
Gwen continues to delve into different forms and expressions that allow her to share her divine vision with others.
She resides in Salt Lake City, UT, a proud mother of four wonderful daughters.
