Description The poppy, having just emerged from its husk, is the perfect image to celebrate all forms of birth, from a new child entering the world, to a young adult leaving home for college, to one's own spiritual rebirth.
Lisa Martinovic, Berkeley Member Since August 2008 Artist Statement Lingua Flora is a new line of premium greeting cards created by Lisa Martinovic, a long-time essayist, poet, and visual artist who began developing her own style of digitally re-imagined photography at the turn of the millennium.
Lisa begins her process by photographing in the neighborhood, or somewhere on her travels—a blossom, vine, or cactus garden that calls to her in some way. These images, born in nature, are transformed—sometimes subtly, sometimes dramatically—when Lisa harnesses digital technology to her intuitive imagination. The results are plants and flowers seen in a striking new way—from hauntingly eloquent to tender, otherworldly to frankly sensual. Lisa has a relationship with every one of her subjects. The story she tells with each image reflects that relationship, expressed in the universal language, the language of flowers: Lingua Flora.
Lingua Flora greeting cards are for lovers of nature, beauty, and the transformative power of imagination.
