Artist Statement Mark was born in Oakland, CA and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. While
in High School Mark studied Painting and Drawing at San Francisco Art Institute.
This early exposure to the Fine Art World made a huge impression on Mark and was probably the single most experience that determined Mark's decision to
become an artist.

After 4 years of military service, (1967-1972), Mark studied Fine Art at Boise State University receiving a BFA with Secondary Teaching Certification. In
1978 Mark studied Fine Art with education emphasis and graduated with a
MAT,(Master of Arts in Teaching), degree.

Mark received a teaching position in 1980 in Coeur d' Alene, ID. where he was an
Art teacher at a Junior High for 4 years.

In 1983 one of Mark's paintings was selected along with other Idaho artists, to be included in the first ever regional art exhibit, "Sawtooths and Other Ranges of Imagination" at The National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, in Washington DC.,

Since then and now, Mark worked as an Art Director for an international sportswear company in Kaneohe, Hi. and as a graphic artist/illustrator in the
imprinted apparel industry. During this time he learned to create his art with
the aid of computer programs.
