Description Quinta do Lago, The long Wooden Bridge crosses the nature reserve at its narrowest point about 250 metres and connects the track, urbanisation and golf course to Praia de Faro Beach. It enables beachgoers fishermen and hikers to view the beauty of the nature reserve, the trees Umbrella Pines (pinus pinea) so called because their tops are like umbrellas, Maritime Pines (Pinus Pinaster), Carob Trees (Ceratonia Siliqua) and shrubs such as Lentisc (Pistacia Lentiscus) Dwarf Fan Palms (Chamaerops Humilis), Furze (Ulex sp.) and Gum Cistus (Cistus sp.) all plants of a Mediterranean climate as they cross the bridge. For hikers it is the turning point on one of the circular walks and a chance to slip those shoes off and feel the coolness of the ocean for a refreshing walk along the ocean shoreline weaving through the many beach goers. In winter the beach is deserted and you are alone with your thoughts as you get the chance to savor the stiff onshore afternoon breeze.
