Artist Biography
Edward has taken his love for nature and the environment into his painting and developed a body of work that highlights nature and the loss of natural habitats. One of the things you may notice in his work is the lack of human intervention in the scenes that he paints, this represents nature in its purity which is in decline. Much of his work is centered around southwest Florida and its wildlife. His new series of paintings focuses on Florida aquatic species that he paints on wood has been released and there are hundreds of examples.
Edward J Walsh was born in Suffern NY, August 19, 1967. he attended school in New City NY till the age of 13 when he and his family relocated to Spring Hill Florida. While attending Springstead High school, Edward met and received training from Myron Hansen. During this period Edward decided to take on art as a career and began to develop a portfolio that would win scholarships and eventually acceptance to Ringling College of art. While At Ringling College he studied under many great artists including, Robert Reedy, Keven Dean, Anthony Rice and Carlos Aguirre.
Edward has received many awards for his art including the Florida state fair 2 years in a row, the Oaks art achievement award, Congressional art award, Ringling portfolio scholarship and many festival show awards. Edwards Art was accepted for reproduction for the Westwood heritage society for the annual
Christmas ornament.
