Description The tides of coastal Georgia are some of the most drastic on the eastern seaboard, and when low, leave creeks like this one completely bare, their shiny marsh mud exposed to air and sunlight for a short time. Sometimes our lives get hectic, stressful and we need to fully empty ourselves in order to be truly refreshed. This original poem is set on an original photo taken in the marsh that surrounds the Golden Isles, Georgia.
Catherine Favole-Gruber, Brunswick Member Since September 2014 Artist Statement Poetry has been a passion of mine since early childhood, and was my focus of study in college for my BA. My work has been published in several journals and won awards; I also teach poetry to for local middle and high-schoolers. Photography is a hobby I was introduced to (and quickly fell in love with) in my 'tween' years by my father with his 1970 Topcon 35mm. Dad gave me his old Topcon when I went to college, and it continues to serve me well, although most often now I pick up my Canon SX40 (or iPhone). I am a simple "backyard poet", finding the grand in the everyday, and reveling in the natural and historical beauty right outside my own door. I live minutes from the beach in beautiful coastal Georgia, which never ceases to provide amazing ideas for poems and photography. Everywhere I look, I see a poem and/or a photo, and so I created Coastal Poetography as a way to share both of my passions.
