Description Every few days roses were placed on a ledge of a shrine to the Virgin Mary; ( Virgin De Guadalupe) as these roses wilted and died some would fall to the floor. I visited the shrine about seven times during a two month period and captured some beautiful images. I let the environment effect me before I triggered the shutter. In all I took only about 12 shots. The shrine is no longer easily visible because some misguided soul put a large sculptured grate in front of it. The roses no longer come. The location is on Cesar Chavez Blvd. in East Los Angeles called Self Help Graphics. [This image is a multiple award winner.] Everyone notices the roses but, - After years of weather and exposure a picture of Virgin has turned into a negative form. The shoulder area of the Virgin has been torn away leaving her head - She appears to only a few people
Larry Costales, Lake Elsinore Member Since July 2007 Artist Statement A self taught photographer, I do actor head shots and portraits for money and fine art images for myself and love of the art. Due to my military duty that took me away from home on five year long tours, after 20 years I am still an undiscovered actor. No regrets, I even served one year in Kuwait as a contractor because I still felt a need to support our troops. I specialize in color and texture and while I was in Kuwait I expanded my art to include some people. I always try to capture some sort of mood or emotion in my images that I hope you notice and are effected by. A few of my images are first place award winners, others have yet to be submitted for competition. Please leave a comment and let me know what images you liked. If your a LA Dodger fan I can be seen on You Tube- 2007 commercials. Look for "Miracle Toast".
