Artist Statement Growing up in South Florida, Jayne Morgan's environment from a young age featured seascapes, sea grass, shell-filled shores, striped lighthouses and wild marshlands teeming with exotic flora, fauna, fish and birds.

The visual images and varying landscape of her home state have always been an influence on the artist. At a young age, her Mother encouraged her to nurture her passion for art with oil and canvas.

“As a native of Coral Gables, Florida, the area that surrounded me has always motivated me to paint. Its charm and splendor fascinated me. And with my father as a tailor and designer, and my mother as an artist, I was further pulled to create art.

Jayne studied art formally at Miami Dade Collage. She initially made her livehood as a flight attendant and latter as a banker, but continued to paint whenever the demands of motherhood and full time employment
permitted.

She relocated to Rainbow Springs, Florida in 1987, and immersed herself in the naturally beauty of the area.
Inspired by the other artists she encountered, she began her transition from oil to watercolor at Florida Community Collage and later studied under noted artisit Eloise Gardiner Giles.

“The transition from oil to watercolor was a much greater challenge than I believed it to be. Watercolor is unforgiving to one not skilled in the craft. My first paintings were a painful attempt and showed my experience. If it had not been for the artisit I studied under that helped me and her wonderful encouragement I might have given up.”

In 1992 Jayne and a partner opened “Golden Opportunities”, an art and jewelry boutique in the historical area of Dunnellon, Florida.

“The operation of the boutique and new demands gave me a valuable lesson in the marketing of art and other important business aspects.”

Jayne was selected to create a custom mural for the headquarters of a broadcast company. She also took some of her most popular subjects and developed hand-painted clothing for her boutique, which turned to be quite a popular item and a sold in resort towns in Florida.

Her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions including Keyhole Gallery Cedar Key, The Shoppe Art Gallery Crystal River, McLean Art Festival, Wood Art Gallery Lecanto, Eastern Shores Art Gallery in Fairhope, Alabama, Nuance Gallery in Tampa and Xanadu Gallery, Az. In 2004, 2005 and 2007, Jayne was honored to be one of 12 artists nationwide to have her art published in Ford Meter Box Company corporate calendar, which were distributed to more than 10,000 clients.

Her works have received recognition for Best of Show,First Place, second place and many others. She has participated in IHMRS, New York 2006, Art Expo 2007, New York; Neo Con, Chicago; Art Expo 2007 in Las Vegas, Dallas Home and Gift Show 2008 and feathered in American Artisit Magazine June 2011.

Jaynes works are in private collection in England, France and through out the United States.

She has been a member of Citrus Watercolor Society, Eastern Shores Art Association, Art-Exchange, Art Faces Art Places, Art ID, and 9/11 Memorial Museum.
