Artist Statement ABOUT ME:
I'll spare you the "obligatory story" of the little boy who fell in love with his first toy camera and...........! Suffice it to say that my interest in photography began decades ago, peaked after having literally hundreds of prints accepted for exhibition in juried shows throughout North America, went into hibernation
(burn-out) for a while and re-emerged more passionate than ever with the advent of digital photography.
ABOUT MY WORK:
Creative photography is about seeing, processing what the eye sees through our personal visual and emotional filters, capturing it with a camera and creating a tangible record of whatever it was that moved us to make the photograph in the first place.
My personal filters allow me to visualize the final photograph even before I compose the subject in the camera's viewfinder. The journey from camera to finished work is the application of technical and artistic processes to assure the desired emotional and visual impact of the images you will see in these galleries.
My style tends to emphasize impact and drama and the subjects I choose to photograph lend themselves to this interpretation.
It all can be summed-up in two quotations from arguably the best creative photographer of all time - Ansel Adams:
"You don't take a photograph, you make it"
"There is nothing worse than a brilliant image of a fuzzy concept"
ABOUT MY GALLERIES:
Out of the thousands of photographs I have taken over the last several decades, the images presented here represent some of the best of my personal favorites. These images, by virtue of dynamic composition, dramatic use of color, lighting, contrast or other enhancements, have what some have called the "wow" factor. You will also see several images scattered throughout my galleries which present rather conventional subjects in a style that can best be described as "experimental" - or, more candidly, "off the wall"!
