Description Those who have no choice but to listen to me, know well that I am not a big fan of snow. I complain endlessly about driving on icy roads. Today I amused myself with the thought that our city officials must be operating under the misconception that we are living in a tropical country. Our recent snowfall seems to have come as a surprise, and the city is completely unprepared. After all, this being Canada, who would have thought that it might snow in December - who knew? (This idea was bouncing around in my head as I slid on sheer ice toward a stop sign.) But, even I have to admit that snow can be beautiful. In fact, quite often it is very beautiful - just don't look at the roads - that's the trick to appreciating snow. And I thought that the snow (and ice) blanketing the little tree in front of my house was quite beautiful (cold, but beautiful). See, I'm looking on the bright side!
Patricia Heise, Mississauga, Ontario Member Since May 2010 Artist Statement Usually, as people grow older they want to move away from the hustle and bustle of the big city to a quieter, more serene life. Well, never being one to follow conventional custom, I have recently returned home to the Toronto area and am enjoying it immensely. The truth is I really missed the culture of Toronto. I've also returned to work. I'm just full of surprises, aren't I. Now I have more photo opportunities, however I need to find the time to explore them. But I'm sure I will. :))
