Artist Statement

when attention is snagged by everyday existence, other realities disappear

All too often, we find ourselves getting caught up in the frantic rush of living in a world that seems to be spinning faster and faster. In these times of ever increasing globalization, we tend to narrow our focus to whatever has to be done today or tomorrow (or yesterday). Photography and digital art are, for me, an escape back to those other realities that seem to disappear in the stress of everyday living. All it takes is a willingness to stop, take a few steps to the side, and look at things from a different perspective.

Now semi-retired from the computer industry, I am able to take a few more of those 'side steps'. And my current location (southeastern Utah, with aspen covered mountains in one direction and redrock canyons in the other) offers an abundance of hidden gems at every turn. These galleries are a window into a few of those other realities, such as the world of insects, the imagination, and the very small or the very large.
