Artist Statement I was born in Washington D.C., and my fondest childhood memories are living in Tacoma Park ( a D.C. suburb ). The annual trips to the Smithsonian and the National Gallery of Art intrigued and inspired me. in my Kindergarten class my first finger paint was Sea Snails and Sea Grass. I'll never forget my teachers reaction. I was discouraged and steered away from painting, D.C. can be very conservative thinking mindset I was told { Artist are paupers and eccentrics }
So I never did anymore work until my senior year in high school in Los Angeles. My teacher was a wonderful Austrian woman who encouraged me to develop my talent.

I attended a community college for a while majoring in Fine Arts . I became the lab assistant for the crafts , jewelry and ceramics workshops. Then discovered the Watts Towers Art Center. I studied Collage making, and ceramics.

Later on I studied Textile Design in Ventura California. Then began teaching Arts and Crafts for L.A. Parks and Recreations. An after school program for latch-key kids and Art Instructor with Los Angeles Unified School District. And lastly A Charter Arts School in Las Cruces New Mexico.

Because of the wide variety of mediums I have used ,my work reflects that diversity. Plus I love to experiment with new materials.

I currently have three galleries, Poperva which houses collages and altered photographs; Art289 which houses my paintings and Dream Art that has public domain images.
