Description I was thinking I'd like a tattoo depicting the Frog and Scorpion fable, but didn't find any image I liked online. So I started drawing my interpretation, and it turned into this... Our own destruction lies within ourselves. The frog was able to recognize the scorpion's treachery only because he could see that same potential for treachery within himself. And yet he succumbed to the scorpion's lie, and in so doing, essentially killed himself. Poe calls this self-destructive quality, the 'unfathomable longing of the soul to vex itself.'
