Description Riding along the clifftops at Telscomb Cliffs near Brighton, UK. I was upstairs on the top of a red double decker bus with the sun setting dead ahead shining right into my window. This capture was originally a quick grab shot (Sony A7r with Zeiss 24-70 FE lens) with lots of sun flare in the image as you might imagine, I could have given up on it. Instead I created the following recipe. In Photoshop I used the clone tool a bit to get the worst flare bits then added four hand picked dark texture files at various opacity and blend modes. Flattened the lot and duplicated that up to a new layer. Next I ran Topazs new Impression plugin using the Van Gogh preset on the new layer. Lastly dropped the opacity of that layer down to 50% to blend in and masked out a bit so the lettering would be clear then flattened all again for the final image.
Chris Lord, New York Member Since June 2010 Artist Statement My name is Chris Lord and I am the Head Pixie and Pixel Pusher at Pixielated Pixels. I am British born and bred but New York City based and I first picked up a camera almost 50 years ago. After all these years I am finally happy creating the images I always dreamed of. Shooting film and printing in the darkroom never gave me as much pleasure as powerful computers and Adobe's wonderful software. I began working with computers in the mid 1980s, now I have become confident and competent with the tools at hand and feel that the world has finally caught up with my eclectic artistic vision. Intense and powerful color and a somewhat surreal take on reality is the way my mind works and I enjoy producing images to match. "Reality is a somewhat overrated thing" has become my mantra and I hope you enjoy where it leads me. If not I'll just blame it on the pixies!
