Description olorized photo from 1915Original Title: Observation car on a deluxe overland limited trainPhotographer: Detroit PublishingLocation: In a trainThis is the observation card in the Deluxe overland limited train. This line was a passenger train on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, running between Chicago and Los Angeles. The line ran from 1901 until 1915, when the line was taken over by the Santa Fe Eight in 1915.This was considered the 'Golden Age', of railroad travel. The deluxe train service shown here was generally considered the most luxurious transportation money could buy. The train was very complete, basically a rolling hotel it had: a Barbershop, Show bath, Valet service, Massage, Hairdressing, Manicuring, Ladies' parlors, Library, Stock reports and news items by wire, Buffet, Club room, and Cafe dining car. The sleeping cars all had lights and were very comfortable. The drawing-rooms and compartments, each had its own individual lavatory and other conveniences, and of course everyone had privacy. The bedroom areas could be joined for a larger party or family.
