Kenneth Elmer, Nashua Member Since November 2010 Artist Statement I have been a graphic artist and print reproduction professional for over 25 years and have been building this collection of digital illustrations and collages since the day I was introduced to the medium.
It would be hard to describe my process as I consider myself somewhat of digital sculptor than an illustrator. I am often releasing the image trapped within the image more than i am consciously building or constructing a vision. This has everything to do with source material which of course I never steal or borrow consciously. I will however download and reconfigure my system drive to run a freeware app that has a unique paint brush. But as an artist I intentionally try to forget my alter ego as a professional designer and this is largely the reason I approach my freetime creative work the way I do.
It has always been important for me to express both sides of my creative inspiration for purposes of balance. In the "Lightroom Gallery" My intent has been to remove the obvious digital feel of computer created art by bringing it into a more organic visual space and creating pleasant, colorful composition." The "Darkroom Gallery" does not share that intention, but instead is the darker side of my creative thoughts and is meant evoke more contemplation than an innate attraction.
I still make my living as a media professional but love art, the people who make and appreciate it and the lifestyle I live by being involved in its many communities. I am also fascinated by other mediums such as video production, audio engineering, 3D modeling, Motion graphics and animation. All of which I have had some hand in professionally.
I do hope you enjoy my art gallery. Should you decide to print and purchase my work I will be forever grateful.
