the cure
when the loneliness becomes a shroud too heavy to remove i take myself to what I call the pier of eternity moving oh so slowly for the weight of sorrow's satin is too great to allow for a good brisk moonlight walk
and when i get there i always stand at the head of the pier and gaze at the stars all winking and glittering more brilliant than any jewels in a queen's tiara and breathe slowly savoring the scent of salt on the breeze
eventually i begin to walk as the moon shines silent one foot in front of the other yet the moon shines silent drawing closer to where wood meets water still the moon shines silent
with each step strips of shredded satin fall from the shroud and are stolen by the wind with each step the burden lightens as i draw nearer the waiting stars with each step I am embraced in the music of the unknowable
for now the moon is singing in the irreproducible key of eternity and freed of the loneliness light and lithe and limber i whirl and spin and sing along and the stars laugh at my melody ~ copyright 2016 RC deWinter
