Description The blue sky was great! The almost bare tree still holding onto many of its red/russet leaves...wonderful! But the image begged for yellow. The ground cover had some low sprouting bushes and trees with yellow leaves, but they were too far removed to be intermingled with the red/blue composition I was faced with. To get my highly desired yellow into the composition, I would have to be a little bit creative. By lying on my back and shooting the sun drenched plant leaf as my main subject instead of a minor element, I achieved the color spectrum I needed...and got a less conventional and attractive image as well.
Allan Carrano, Spartanburg, SC Member Since July 2016 Artist Statement I've been an avid photographer most of my adult life, but I found a more secure livelihood in being a scientist...my other talent; not that I haven't had success as an amateur and part time professional photographer. I've been published in magazines and scenic calendars. I've also won awards, including Kodak's International Newspaper Awards (KINSA). Among some 250,000 entries, my photo placed 2nd in the color category, and was exhibited at Kodak's Epcot Pavilion in Disney World and in National Geographic Explorers Hall in Washington, D.C. Now that I've entered my retirement years, I am devoting full time to creating photographic art and sharing the results through Imagekind.
