Current Gallery: CentralAsianMountainsInColor ( piece)
This gallery primarily shows color photographs of the Pamir, Alay and Tian Shan Ranges in Central Asia. The Pamir range is formed at the junction of these ranges, along with the Himalayas and Hindu Kush. As with the Himalayas, the Pamirs are sometimes called the "Roof of the World." The gallery features two of the highest peaks in the area: Ibn Sina Peak (AKA Lenin Peak) at 23,406 ft or 7,134 m, and Ismoil Somoni Peak (AKA Communism or Stalin Peak) at 24,590 ft or 7,495 m. Also included are fingered glaciers which feed the Zeravshan River. The best photos, I believe, are the many unidentified closer shots. There is more natural beauty in this area than a person could ever capture. I hope you enjoy.
