This gallery is a loving tribute to my paternal grandfather, William Joseph Elliott. The colours in these images instantly reminded me of the little black liquorice candies that he would give to me and my brothers. I never really did like the flavour of them but I didn't have the heart to tell him and I just couldn't resist those beautiful colours! Consequently, I would graciously accept his offer of a treat. I tried to eat only the pink or orange bits and then discreetly discard the rest when nobody was watching. Grandma probably figured out what I was up to but she never let on. Isn't it wonderful that art has the power to evoke such sweet memories from the distant past?
