My photgraphy is borne of a genuine love of the natural world, its wild places and the wildlife that inhabits it. I also have an interest in various eastern philosophies such as Buddhism and Taoism and it is this interest that guides my camera, infuses my work and gave me my title for the gallery. The Light Of Elder Days is a phrase that is often in mind when I walk amongst the hills or paddle the seas and accurately sums up how I feel at such times. It is an extension of Chogyam Trungpa's "Heart of Genuine Sadness" and reflects an appreciation for the world and those emotionally overwhelming moments in which we and the universe are truly at one, for those fleeting instants of amazing brilliance. It is in those moments, that I truly believe that the light of elder days shines upon us.
