Description This autumn image seems plucked from a European fairytale with its rushing river, graceful waterfalls and old-world architecture. Taken at Ausable Canyon in the state of New York, it is located within the Adirondack Park system, the largest state park in the world. The fall foliage colors of deep rust, reds, golds and yellows add to the natural beauty of this dramatic, cavernous wonder.
RM Hoover, Geneva Member Since April 2007 Artist Statement Professional writer. Mother. Sister. Daughter. Amature human. Constant dreamer.
In my past life I've been an advertising copywriter, newspaper humor columnist and crime writer for a major Chicago newspaper. I'm now a freelance journalist located in Geneva, IL,, a city that straddles the banks of the Fox River, just outside of Chicago .
Here, I am developing my second avocation: digital art and photography. Photography has given my creativity yet another outlet; it allows me a chance to be "in the moment;" which can and does (when I let it) open the door to my spiritual self.
Travel is my usual muse. I developed my passion for digital photography while exploring France. Since then I've carried my camera where ever I;ve gone: NYC, Chicago, Boston, Charleston, Paris, Vermont and even my home along the Fox River Valley.
Many of my images reflect a moment just as it existed, but others have served as a a jumping off place for me to create something that reflects the powerful feelings the moment stirred within me.
