Description AUTUMN SUNSET AT McGEE CREEK by Lynn Bauer - This gorgeous scene was captured at McGee Creek near Mammoth Lakes in California's High Sierra Mountains. This area is part of the being the John Muir Wilderness area, where there are many incredible hiking trails for the day-tripper as well as for back-packers. John Muir was a naturalist and an explorer who traveled through much of our Sierra Mountains in California and spent his lifetime fighting for the preservation of these beautiful natural areas. Following in his trail always leads to gorgeous scenery, as seen here with the explosion of autumn colors that front the incredible granite mountains of the Sierra. You can get an idea of where the creek is by following the line of aspens that run through the center of this image. This area is located in Mono County and is part of the Inyo National Forest.
