Deniz Turkmen, San Diego Member Since October 2020 Artist Statement We were always given colored pencils and watercolor sets when we were little kids to show our talent. Even though this was just my parents' way of keeping us busy, the itch to express myself through visual art has grown with me. I don't call myself an artist, I think that would be a great compliment. However, there are images out there that stimulate different feelings when I look at them whether be photos or paintings. It's not 100% the image itself, it's also my imagination doing part of the work. That is art. My goal is to share printable images that are worth printing, looking, and feeling IMHO.
Fascinated by various cameras in late 70's and early 80's, including my father's 8mm camera, a TLR, a Yashica SLR, a Mamiya p&s; my interest sparked again with the digital age. First Casio digital camera I tested in 90's was more like a toy, but it was a great leap forward in the right direction.
It wasn't until 2009 when I got my first DSLR, Sony Alpha 200, when I could finally try and fail a lot faster than film cameras. Since then, I have used Nikon D40, D90, D5500, Sony RX-100, NEX-6, and finally my most recent camera A7RII. I can say this with confidence that the limitations I face are mostly due to me, not the gear, but the minor boost I can get from a camera like Sony A7RII can open big possibilities.
