I've been taking pictures for nearly 20 years. Digital photography now rivals film in quality and far surpasses it in efficiency, cost and environmental impact. This, coupled with a great deal of international travel over the past four years, has ignited my passion for taking portraits and other unique images.
More than anything, I love taking pictures of people. Not only is each person unique, but so is each second in each person's life. Photography is the best medium we have for capturing these unique seconds. I'm often amazed at how three shots of a person's face taken rapid-fire within a single second can result in three totally distinctive images. It's for this reason that, when working with a client, I often take hundreds of images in a relatively short time frame. I strive to capture "decisive moments" as the famous street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called them."There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture," he once said, "Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative."
I'm also quite involved in the Guatemala Friendship School Foundation. All of my Guatemala images were taken on trips there to help the school. Donate today and help change the lives of students in this struggling country: http://www.gfsf.org!
