Artist Statement A discoverer of places outdoors, I have used my camera to record those special locations and experiences through my life; across North America, Europe and Southeast Asia. I try to capture not only the dramatic and majestic but the ordinary and everyday as well.

I come from a long family of artists, including my great-grandfather who captured images on glass plates at the turn of the century. My father and uncle continued with photography and painting and now I try to keep the lens focused on my vision.

As a youngster, I planned trips, read maps and took pictures to record travels and events my family experienced in the years they lived in Europe. This led me to a professional career in cartography. Retired now, I try to see the beauty and the beast in places of the world that I visit.

My wife and I have been leading hiking trips in the Northwest and Europe for over 20 years. This has provided numerous opportunities to capture the wonders of Nature and Man. I hope that you enjoy these images as well.
