Description Barrio Amon is one of the few remaining examples of Colonial and turn of the century architecture in San Jose. Earthquakes , costly repairs, maintenance and greed have caused most of San Jose's prize buildings be replaced by mundane, and sometimes unattractive buildings. Parking lots now stand sometimes surrounded by remnants of the grand walls of previous gardens and homes! Some efforts have been made to preserve many historic areas in Costa Rica. Most too late but at least we can save the remaining few.
Scott K Wimer, Coronado-San Jose,Costa Rica Member Since January 2010 Artist Statement My name is Scott K Wimer. I am a Visual Artist working in Acrylics , Pastels and Photography. Growing up in a rural Indiana landscape, I have always loved the rich tapestry of details and light seen in ordinary life. Whether it be endless green fields or a petal of a dewy bloom. Unexpected colors and textures. I am in awe of what presents itself. Random ordinary things become extraordinary with the changing light. Textures on stone and wood. Natural and man made influences that create unusual and beautiful images. I do not consider my art as my creation, but as my discovery that I can capture and share. I work from my studio in Costa Rica drawing from the endless beauty around me. I studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. From their I became a Fashion Photographer working in Paris,Chicago and San Francisco. I am still busy shooting everyday. Not fashion these days but photography as a tool to allow me to capture and hold life's magical fleeting moments. I hope you will share my visions and enjoy them as much as I do.
