Artist Statement It’s Just Damn Fun
Instamatic, the first camera, I ran around shooting all kinds of stuff including toilets. I had a blast. Photography has always been fun for me. Every aspect of it is fun. When I was teaching in Uptown at the Beacon Street Gallery I encouraged the kids to take the cameras and have fun. I insisted the craft was best performed when it was all pleasure. I feel my passion for the art of photography is what keeps me feeling so young. I am often dismayed when I see that old man in the mirror.

I rarely have a moment I am not thinking, constructing, or visualizing a better or different way to approach a situation. I love to challenge myself, often I begin a project and find I don’t have the proper tool or equipment. I will immediately begin a process to resolve the problem. My interactions with people are very similar.

I am a well trained law enforcement officer and am gifted with spot on intuition. I have seen the most insidious evil one can inflict on another, yet I believe few are innately evil. I’ve learned judgment is not mine, I’m only here to witness. My work adequately reflects these beliefs. I witness the beauty around me appreciating every sunset or flower, the simple flow of a meandering river, or the ferocity of the thunder.

It truly is Just Damn Fun.
