Artist Statement I began painting when I was 10 years old, calling myself "an Artist" and going door to door around my block selling my oil paintings to my neighbors. My first sale wa $25, and I was convinced I was going to be a rich and famous person someday. Silly kid!

I began sketching in pencil outdoors in grade school and in high school began adding watercolor to the sketches to make color notations to better capture the image and paint oils back home in my bedroom/studio. Gradually, the watercolors sketches got better and at some point became the end product, eleminating the pencil lines all together, and began blocking in large areas of color leaving the white object, ususally the focal point, to be pure virgin paper. I graduated from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art in 1968 and did my bit in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. Getting a taste for the West Coast, I moved from New Jersey to California in 1975 to paint the Western Landscape. I tried to take a painting trip every year, going to National Parks like the Grand Canyon and Navajo Tribal Parks like Monument Valley as often as possible, doing plein air watercolors. There is nothing like being there. Having the wind at your back and racing the sun to capture the image as quickly as possible. This is how my rapid style evolved over the years.

I have always enjoyed working in different mediums. When I get burnt out in one, I will either take a break or switch to another medium. I enjoy whatever media I am in when I am working in it. If I am painting in oils, oil is my favorite, if it is pastel then pastel is my favorite, eventhough I have far more watercolors than anything else.

I moved to Marietta, Georgia in 1995. Here I taught art at Bauder College of nearly ten years, and now am retired, working from home, painting nearly everyday with my wife Suzie, who is also a very fine artist as well. Happily ever after as they say.
