Artist Statement Welcome to my gallery!

I first became interested in photography when I was a youngster. I used to shoot black and whites with an old Kodak rangefinder, processing my negatives in the bathroom with a towel shoved under the door to keep the light out. It was always very cool to see the image magically appear on the paper as it floated in the developer, and to finally see if you nailed your shot or totally blew it.


Unfortunately, the real world intruded and I had to actually start working for a living. Photography fell to the wayside; I just never seemed to have the time (or the money!) to get back into it. I never forgot the fun I used to have shooting and developing my own prints though. A few years ago, I managed to get some pretty decent equipment and I rediscovered the joy I used to have with photography when I was younger. And thanks to digital, I now don't have to spend hours in a dark bathroom!


Being a photographer is a very interesting vocation. It changes the way you look at the world. Even when I am not actively out shooting, I see things in a unique way. You start to view things from different angles; you notice the play of light on objects and you begin to see things that you would probably miss on a day-to-day basis. I am sure that a lot of photographers would agree that is one of the neatest things about why we do what we do.
