Description The original oil painting was a commissoned piece for a lover of moose. I took pictures for reference in the Sierra's, Yosemite and Big Basin State Park. An elderly lady heard I was preparing to do a moose painting and said she had some moose photos from a trip she had taken to to Alaska. They were exactly what I needed. Thank you Ruth! Artist Statement I love the outdoors!,as far back as I can remember I have just been fascinated
by nature. I know I get that from my Dad who quite often paid more attention to the deer and jackrabbits than the road while driving.Talk about "Natural beauty", it is everywhere, you just have to look. I think this is why I enjoy realism so much. There is no improving on God's creation, but to try to capture a moment of it on canvas is very rewarding to me. I love the whole process of putting a painting together. I like "knowing" what it smelled like in Yosemite on that sunny afternoon, or remembering the sweat and soreness I experienced backpacking in the Sierra's. By the way, that soreness fades quickly when you are catching trout at 11,000 ft and cooking them on an open fire that night! If you enjoy the picture half as much as I did creating it, I will be happy! Thank you for taking the time. Tim
