Description I started drawing purely black pen, white paper until a few years ago. I have a keen interest in the movement of the natural world and you'll notice a lot of organic shapes and movement throughout my work. This one is a study of the movement that strands of electricity can make when it is raw and unbridled. Its also an Ode to Mercury, Uranus, Elegba, Esu, Guardians of the Crossroads, communication and intuitive insight. All of my black and white artwork is dedicated to these shape-shifting, path-opening gods.
Corrin Evans, New Orleans Member Since October 2010 Artist Statement I am most strongly influenced by ancient design and artwork, such as Celtic knotwork, and Asian and Arabic styles of calligraphy. I love to play with negative space, I love the contrast between light and dark. My artwork has recently progressed into the world of color, and I feel that it brings a new depth to my illuminations. I call the style of my artwork Anima Mundi because I feel like it is a picture of my relationship to the soul of the world. They are snapshots of a moving image caught in a moment of time.
