Description Blue Tit fledgling's first day out The Blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) is one of the most likeable UK birds. Those of you from America will recognise them as related to the chickadees We have a nest box in the form of a lighthouse outside our backdoor in Sissinghurst, Kent, England, and last year the noise of the fledglings had been filling the air for some time. When I went out at that weekend, all was silent! I feared the worst and then noticed several of these little fellows flitting around in our apple tree on their very first day out. You can see that some of the down feathers remain between his legs. Cute or what?!
